John Warr, Director

John began his journey at The Step House as a resident in 2016 and has maintained his sobriety since August 1, 2016.

After successfully completing the one-year program, he chose to remain with the organization as a volunteer following the passing of Royce Sherrick in 2017.

John remained at The Step House as House Manager ever since, until he officially took over and the house became

J & K Step House in 2025.

His committment to helping others is a rare passion seen and he takes his gratitude to a whole other level, one day at a time, he has never left the house since his journey. began.

He is celebrating 10 years of sobriety AND living at the house on August 1, 2026!

Drawing from his own recovery experience, John is deeply committed to supporting the men who come to J & K Step House. He understands the importance of providing hope through example, demonstrating that lasting sobriety can lead to restored family relationships, renewed self-respect, and a fulfilling life.

John genuinely cares about every individual he meets and is dedicated to offering guidance, encouragement, and support throughout their recovery journey. His compassion, lived experience, and commitment to service continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those seeking a fresh start.

Kevin Funk, Manager

Kevin's journey also began at The Step House as a resident in 2019.

His sobriety date is August 20, 2019 and he has never left, giving selflessly of himself in service to being not only a manager but a role model and mentor for residents.

Kevin is like a father to the residents - kind, helpful, but stern in keeping chaos from running through the house, making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be and doing what they are supposed to do.

He is known, to some, as "Mighty Mouse" because he always comes to save the day whenever anyone, anywhere needs help.

Kevin says that he feels such gratitude in working with men at

J & K Step House, watching men transform themselves as sober fathers so that they can be a part of their children's lives.

Kevin loves working with the residents, as he wants to be a part of something that's greater than himself, which gives him purpose.

Most of all, he feels that there is no one better to work with than John Warr!

Continuing the Journey

After 15 years of helping individuals build stronger, healthier lives through

The Step House, founder Kristy Sherrick passed ownership to former resident and long time Manager, John Warr who experienced the program first-hand.

Today, that mission continues as

J & K Step House, LLC

Carrying forward the spirit of support, accountability, and community that made The Step House special - carrying on Royce Sherrick's vision and legacy.

We are honored to see the legacy continue in the hands of someone who truly understands it's impact.
